Carbon Change in Ecosystems

Ecosystems are the most dynamic and most uncertain component of the global carbon cycle, and human activities such as logging or construction can have a wide range of adverse effects. AGS uses satellite data and algorithms to observe and quantify these effects, and biogeochemical modeling to simulate indirect effects under a range of possible circumstances. Together, this work contributes to our overall understanding of the net exchange of important trace gases into the atmosphere, and how to reduce these emissions.
