Beth L. Ziniti Ph.D
Research Scientist

Dr. Beth Ziniti joined Applied GeoSolutions after earning her PhD in Statistics from the University of New Hampshire. In her dissertation, she developed Bayesian hierarchical models based on Gaussian Markov Random Fields for complex environmental data sets varying in space and time. Her dissertation work contributed to an interdisciplinary effort of developing an eco-epidemiological model that quantifies the relationship between remotely sensed water quality and the incidence of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in Northern New England.

She has varied research interests and was particularly drawn to the field of statistics because of its utility to solve problems in diverse disciplines. She enjoys collaborative interdisciplinary research as well as educational outreach. Before pursuing a PhD, she spent a few years teaching highschool mathematics and English to native French speakers.
