Forest Structure and Dynamics

The function of an ecosystem is inextricably tied to its structure, and how its structure changes over time. The density, shape, and spacing of forest canopy, for example, dictates how the forest ecosystem will interact with the atmosphere. Working with field scientists, AGS conducts projects using multispectral and textural image analysis to map forest structure and its effects on key characteristics of the ecosystems, improving our understanding of how these systems operate.
