Food Security

The world’s population reached 7 billion in 2011 and is projected to reach approximately 9 billion by 2050. Rapidly increasing population and rising income in developing countries continue to pose greater demand for food, fiber, water and energy, and in turn, substantial threats to food supplies. At AGS we integrate geospatial technologies and crop forecasting models to assess and predict impacts to food systems and commodities, allowing for more accurate decision-making and increased food security. This specialized information on food and cash crops is used for crop insurance, trading, and governmental programs to improve agricultural resiliency.
