Training & Workshops

AGS provides training and technology transfer seminars on state of the art applications of remote sensing, GIS, and geo-spatial modeling for environmental applications. Training and technology transfer activities have been provided nationally and internationally and included short courses and seminars on the following topics:

• Remote sensing and GIS applications for forest management
• Mapping and monitoring aforestation, reforestation, and deforestation (ARD)
• Mapping and monitoring land use
• Applications of decision support systems for evaluating management alternatives for reducing nutrient loading at the watershed scale Applications of SAR polarimetry and interferometry
• Hyperspectral and LIDAR remote sensing for natural resource management
• Linking remote sensing and biogeochemical models for estimating trace gas and greenhouse gas emissions at local to national scales.
• Applications of remote sensing for detection of active fires and fire scars Mapping and monitoring of water quality
